What is this dare? You may ask. It’s a game called the “condom-snorting challenge” and, not unlike other dangerous dares that have swept social media, teenagers have been doing it — for years now.
Internet fame is a dangerous game and one an ever-changing world of teenagers and fame-hungry losers will eternally search for.
It’s relatively easy to achieve internet fame. It appears that all you need to do is something utterly ridiculous – and often extremely dangerous.
Anyhow. We truly are in the age of Internet Idiocy. We’ve seen the Tide Pod challenge, the ‘choking game’ (which evidently led to numerous deaths), and now we have the condom challenge.
The condom challenge has been around for years apparently but now it’s making a deadly resurgence – and no, you should never do it. I’m not silly, yeah you read right, but it isn’t funny and you might just end up dead, according to Forbes.
Bruce Lee, an associated professor at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, explained the dangers of the condom challenge in a recent article for Forbes.
Below are the excerpts:
When is using a condom a bad idea? When you are trying to snort it up your nose and pull it out through your mouth. If you ask, ‘why would anyone ever do that’, then you obviously haven’t heard of the ‘Condom Snorting Challenge’
The condom could easily get stuck in your nose or your throat, blocking your breathing or causing you to choke.
Even if you manage to successfully pull the condom out through your mouth, inhaling a condom up your nose would be very uncomfortable and potentially quite painful. Would it really be worth all that just to get more likes and views?
Lee went onto list numerous times people have had pretty nasty experiences after accidentally swallowing condoms. Think blocked airways, collapsed lungs, and appendix’s being lodged.
So why am I making this post? Simple! Don’t think of attempting the condom challenge. There’s plenty of things you can do in life that are fun, funny, or interesting. Inhaling a device used to collect spermatozoa up your nose isn’t one of them.
